Can uti scared about spreading ?

I have this uti for a week maybe going to dr last week just wondering if it will spread before then to my kidneys and bladder searched it on good glee and freak myself out I have some expired antibiotics for it but Ido if I should take them the went bad over a month ago any help

A urinary tract infection (UTI) occurs when bacteria (germs) get into the urinary tract and multiply. The urinary tract is made up of the bladder, urethra and the two ureters and kidneys. These germs usually enter the urinary tract through the urethra, the tube that carries urine out of the body, and travel up to the bladder. The result is redness, swelling and pain in the urinary tract. UTI should be treated by diuretic and anti-inflammatory pill. If a UTI is not treated promptly, the bacteria can move up to the kidneys and cause a more serious type of infection, called pyelonephritis.
