placenta anterior

mamabear - July 2

I was informed that my daughters pregnancy has something called placenta anterior the placenta is in front of uterus, I cannot medical information on this term as it is not located, under this term. Does anyone have a clue exactly what this is or any risks involved? I am concerned this is something linked to placenta previa, yet Dr seemed to brush her off when first discovered in sonogram today at approx. 20 weeks is cause for not feeling movement yet, according to the minimal infor Dr did give her after throwing the term out yet failed to give details. Her sonogram shows all is fine and baby is moving all over the place just not feeling as she has expected due to this condition! Could anyone help me find more information??? PLease!

placenta anterior shouldn't cause your daughter or her baby any problems at all. it only means that her placenta is positioned in front wall of her uterus which is the womb. nothing to worry.

no problem unless if she's having her baby by caesarean and the placenta is low. this will cause too much bleeding.
